As a volunteer at a cat colony I get to see many stories. Some of them have happy endings, unfortunately you occasionally experience the sad ones too. But one in particular stands out in my mind, that of Mr Lion
I believe time is a gift. And yes, this pandemic is ugly and horrifying, but if you are well and asked to simply stay at home to stay safe, how can you possibly complain, considering everything that’s going on around the world?
You wouldn’t call me the traditional car-lover. I’m more like the two ends of a spectrum; I respect classic older cars and yet new designs fascinate me.
So when Time Out Magazine invited me to drive the new BMW X2 and write an article about it, I kinda couldn’t resist.
We do not need to celebrate with flowers and chocolate and cosmetics today. We shouldn’t even thank them for it. We can do that any day and on our own. Today actually we do not need to celebrate at all; we need remember. Our worth. Our value. Our dignity.
I wanted to share with you a little tradition I’ve created for myself.
Every New Years’ Day, I open a little box in which I keep little colorful post-it notes from the past year.
I have tremendous discipline when it comes to my work; maybe that’s why I felt it’s okay to overlook smaller things. Like taking 2 minutes in the morning to make my bed.
Until I came across Admiral McRaven’s speech.
I’ve been following this amazing page for some time and I’m always drawn to the beauty of these incredible stories of everyday people.
I’ve read that Humans of New York is soon to become a documentary-series and the trailer gave me goosebumps!
So just before blowing out my candles this year, I couldn’t help but think of that line I said every night in the show “Grande Midlife Mocha Latte”:
“Life’s funny that way. Taking you where you don’t want to go, only to give you exactly what you need. I didn’t see it then, but I do now. And I’m not taking any of it for granted. None on it.”
And trust me, I felt it to the bone.
Christos Lazanias from Politis newspaper invited me for a game of Snakes and Ladders and a chat over coffee a few weeks ago.
Our chat was featured on the newspapers’ Web TV and even though I lost the game, I had an excellent time!
